  • November 13. And the fourteen hours back again. No upgrade, but happy to have a free seat between us. We both scrape together an hour or two of sleep. Or was it more? The flight time becomes a blur, and it’s like time travel for us, Gothenburg in the morning, Manhattan in the evening. I briefly practise a few minutes so that I don’t lose my streak on the piano app.

  • November 12. Birthday gift: CapCut Pro and 2 terabytes. I show the children pictures from shortly after their birth, and all I have to do for that is enter the date on my phone. For them it’s a prehistoric mystery, for me just a few years ago.

  • November 11. Wrote a birthday card for my daughter, as if I’d never had a pen in my hand before.

  • November 10. Lost the sleep lottery and got none on the plane. Arriving in Europe early in the morning with burning eyes is the worst part of these weekends. After that, it gets better by the hour.

  • November 5. What I read in Ezra Klein’s book is not new to me, but here it hits me again with full force: How our seemingly rational thinking only serves to confirm what group we belong to. It is much more important to belong to the right people than to come to the right conclusions. • November 4. Threw away an instruction manual. They better have all of that online. Just like I stopped buying newspapers as soon as it was even remotely possible. And of course: being a book person and giving away all my books. J. thinks it’s my character: all-or-nothing. If I’m not living in the farthest possible future, I feel out of place.
