4/20 I’m beginning to realize that the work in this house will simply never stop. A new lamp in the stairwell, and while we’re at it, swap out the fire alarm – each week there will be things like that, and if it isn’t in the house, it will be the cars.
My first – and I must underline that, after fifteen years, my first blackout here. Back then, during Superstorm Sandy, I escaped the one-week blackout only barely because I had moved to the Upper West Side one week earlier. And now here, in Newburgh, in the evening, one and a half hours, because two blocks from here a car had hit a utility pole. A thousand three hundred customers without power, as shown in the app of Central Hudson. A team was already on-site, estimated repair by 10pm, which turned out pretty accurate.
