October 26. By now I buy almost everything with a few keystrokes and a few days of waiting. The houseware store two blocks from here consequently closed down a few months ago. I guess in this area most people shop mostly online. Today I needed a few things that couldn’t wait until Friday. So I went to Bed Bath and Beyond on Sixty-fifth Street - not without buying the stuff ahead of time and just having it ready to pick up. This Bed Bath and Beyond is completely underground, three stories down. The pickup counter in the lobby is the only thing above ground, and it’s hard to even tell from the street that it’s a Bed Bath and Beyond, even though it’s right next to the Met, the spot with the heaviest car traffic on the Upper West Side during evening rush hour.
