September 6. Sound of rain on the tarp. Rationing our logs to keep the fire going until tonight. Forty-five minutes of burning time per log, and they burn best if you just leave them alone and worry about something else. Looking for wood in the area is pointless because everything is wet. We play Magic Cards under the tent roof we bought yesterday. The campground empties almost completely because today is Labor Day and everyone has to go home because tomorrow work starts again. A woman from the neighboring campsite brings us her last logs, a common gesture among campers. They are a bit wet, but not so wet that they would be unburnable.
