August 17. I’m shocked at the frying pan I bought, but even more shocked at the ladle two weeks later. It’s a deep frying pan made of shiny steel with a glass lid. The ladle, however, is large, heavy, and even shinier. How could this have happened? I guess when you have to do the math on every dollar, when you go to the housewares store looking for the cheapest option and then buy the second cheapest with a sense of decadence, or, better yet, pick it all up in the bulk bin, it results in an imperfection you can live with. Woe betide anyone who can simply buy the best and most expensive. You have to consciously refrain from that and keep looking for the cheapest and second cheapest. Or know very well what you are doing.
