June 10. Bubbling up of the wave just coming in, while below it the previous wave is receding. Tarkovsky. It seems to me now, at fifty, that I’ve been to the sea many times. (How do I differ from someone who spends every day here?) Nothing changes in the gaze with which I see every incoming wave. When the sea has washed away all your words, you still gaze the same way.
