May 19. The CDC’s new directive that vaccinated people no longer have to wear masks in many situations is having an effect. Something is slipping in the streets, more and more often you see something that was unthinkable for a year: people going their way without masks. This is strange, because until now no one seemed to follow the guidelines, but everyone over-fulfilled them and wore masks even where no guideline required them. Compared to the earlier statements, the new guideline seems over-hasty. It is probably intended to make vaccination more attractive, and that finally kills off any credibility of those guidelines.
