6/25 I do not want to write anything critical about AI, because those who reject AI would feel vindicated in the most avaricious way.

6/24 Rather than “What can I do that no computer could”, I want to know “What can I do with a computer that I couldn’t do without one.” – J finds it pointless to even think about it.
6/23 The only question I should ask myself is: Did I focus on / did I commit myself to / did I devote my life to what was the most interesting to me / intrigued me the most / disturbed me the most / was the most consequential / the most important / the most meaningful I found / encountered / discovered, and did I do it as best I could / in such a way that I could not have done it any better? To which the answer should always be no.
6/22 A few months ago I would still wonder whether AI would be able to program something. That is no longer a question. The question is whether I’d want it to program it. Reasons I might not: To keep my tools sharp. Or I might need to understand the code in more detail than I would if someone else wrote it. Or I might want it to not look like AI: suspiciously well-written and well-commented, as if by someone who had too much time on their hands.
6/21 The deeper I think about something – and that something is preferably myself –, the more my two languages fall apart. What sounds reasonable in English is unacceptable in German, what makes sense in German does not in English. I’ve got some work to do.
6/20 A boy pushes his bike up the street in front of our house. I’m in the front yard winding up the charging cable of the Jeep. Curious look. He doesn’t miss a thing, and it’s one of the things that will last as a memory for decades.
6/19 Hours and hours. As if something was lingering for the opportunity.
6/18 Fishtailing sleep.
6/17 Have to develop a piece of software by Monday, and for days I’ve been doing it all in my head.
6/16 When it comes to learning, there was a lot that went wrong for me. I understood so many things instantly that I never learned making a serious effort over a long time. Always gave up way too early, or decided that I didn’t want or could learn something anyway. I regret that now. – Right to the point from Chris: Learn it first. Then you can try making it sound beautiful.
